What are qualifying dollars? 

Qualifying dollars include the amount spent on VIA Rail fares for travel completed during the qualification period and travel pass purchases during the qualification period, before taxes. All optional products, charges and fees are excluded.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Qualifying dollars are earned by the member who travels, not the member who purchases the tickets or travel passes.
• Qualifying dollars will be posted to your account upon completion of travel and not at the time of booking.
• VIA Préférence points redemptions do not count towards qualifying dollars.
