Here are the rules in place for special baggage items on board our trains.

Allowed as carry-on baggage

Small Vehicles Powered by Lithium Batteries

Small vehicles powered by lithium batteries are allowed as carry-on baggage but are prohibited in checked baggage.

These vehicles and devices include hoverboards, AirBoards, electric skateboards, airwheels, mini-Segways, battery-assisted bicycles, and electric scooters.

Important Restrictions:

  • A station employee may inspect lithium batteries at any time.
  • Storing batteries in passenger areas is strictly prohibited.
  • Connecting batteries to a charger on board is not allowed.
  • Lithium batteries must be stored in the baggage area only.

 

Allowed as checked baggage

Allowed on very specific routes: Toronto-Winnipeg, Sudbury-White River, Senneterre, Jonquière, Winnipeg-Churchill, and Jasper-Prince Rupert.

These items are not limited to your maximum baggage allowance per passenger.

Fee: $5/item

Items list:

  • Grocery bags;
  • Pharmaceuticals;
  • Hard coolers (Max. size: 76 x 48 x 30 cm (30 x 19 x 12 in)./ Max. weight: 23 kg (50 lb).);
  • Camping gear;
  • Garbage and recycling bags (not accepted on Train 001 and 002).
     

Fishing, Hunting and Camping

Fee: $5/item

Fee: $75 for a large animal carcass.

All fishing, hunting and camping equipment must be stored in rigid containers (fishing rod in rod case, tackle box, worms or bait, tackle bag + reels, boots, fish bin, etc.)
