How to use your discount card

- Book your train tickets using your pass.
DISCOUNT:
25% off travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays and 15% off travel on Mondays and Thursdays when using the Corridor Discount Card.
The discount is applicable to the Economy fare in Economy class for travel within the Québec City–Windsor corridor.
PURCHASE PERIOD:
Eastern Time (ET): Corridor Discount Cards must be purchased between 8:00 a.m. on August 19, 2024, and 11:59 p.m. on December 9, 2024.
TRAVEL PERIOD:
Valid for travel on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from August 26, 2024, to December 14, 2024 (a period of 110 days).
Discount cards are not applicable for travel on Fridays and Sundays.
PRICE:
$159.00 + taxes.
NUMBER OF TRIPS:
Valid for 40 segments (one-way trips).
TRAVEL ZONES:
Valid for travel within the Québec City-Windsor corridor.
CLASS OF SERVICE:
Valid for travel in Economy class (Economy fare only).
HOW TO PURCHASE:
Discount cards can be purchased online at viarail.ca or by phone. They are not available for purchase at VIA Rail train stations.
HOW TO BOOK ONLINE USING YOUR DISCOUNT CARD:
- Log in to your profile or create one before booking with a travel pass (discount card).
- If your profile is linked to the discount card, it will be automatically selected in your booking options. If you have multiple travel passes, you’ll need to select the one you wish to use by clicking “travel pass” in the booking engine.
- Complete your booking using the selected discount card.
EXCHANGES AND REFUNDS:
VIA Rail discount cards are non-refundable, non-transferable, and valid only for the person named on the issued pass.
Tickets booked using a discount card can be exchanged or refunded prior to the scheduled departure time according to the fare plan conditions. However, they become non-refundable and non-exchangeable after the scheduled departure time has passed. Applicable service charges will be provided at the time of booking and included in the booking confirmation.
Tickets purchased with the discount card are subject to the conditions of the selected fare plan.
UPGRADES:
The discount card cannot be used as part of an upgrade to other classes of service.
HOW TO EXCHANGE AN EXISTING BOOKING:
Log in to your profile, access your original booking, and make the necessary changes to your desired date, train, and departure time. Ensure you select the appropriate fare family when making changes. If needed, you can also cancel your original booking online.
Before making changes, check that space is available in the applicable fare class for your desired departure. All changes or cancellations must be completed before the departure time of your original booking.
TRANSFERABLITY:
Non-transferable. The discount card is valid only for travel by the person whose name appears on the issued card.
OTHER STANDARD CONDITIONS:
- VIA Rail reserves the right to limit the quantity of discount cards sold.
- Discount cards are not valid for group travel.
- The discount card cannot be combined with any other discount or promotion that requires a discount code.
- Remaining or unused credits at the expiration of a discount card are non-refundable, non-transferable, and non-exchangeable.
- Stopovers are subject to VIA Rail’s stopover policy and may affect the number of credits used for a trip.
- Discount card holders can earn VIA Préférence points on the value of the card at purchase and on the value of trips (after discounts) booked using the card.
The following practices may result in the immediate cancellation of the discount card:
- Duplicate bookings for the same train or multiple departures on the same date, or failure to cancel an unused booking prior to train departure.
- Illogical bookings, such as traveling from two different locations on the same trip when it is not feasible.
- Use of a discount card when the government-issued photo ID does not match the name on the ticket and card, or if the passenger has no valid photo ID.
